Multotec Increases
Its Footprint With Scanmin Shares Purchase
Multotec Process Equipment, one of
the largest local manufacturers and suppliers of
process equipment, has become a shareholder in
on-line analysis company Scanmin Africa.
Johan Engelbrecht, managing director of Multotec
Process Equipment explains the rationale behind the
investment in Scanmin. “In the past, Multotec has
co-operated with Scanmin with sampling systems for
their online analysers and this synergy between the
two companies in a collaborative environment made
perfect business sense for the buy-in.”
A couple of staff changes have been implemented at a Scanmin
Africa. Johan Engelbrecht joins as a non executive director
of Scanmin Africa. Ditiro Mokgofa will replace Dr Lia
Vangelatos as a director and will represent the interests of
BEE partner, Vika Investments. Keith Buttemer will continue
as the managing director and Bryan Buttemer will remain as
technical director. |
Both companies have high levels of specialised knowledge
within their specific industry sectors and the access to
these specialists will ultimately offer a higher level of
efficiency and service to the process and mining industries.
“Scanmin Africa provides solutions for mining operations and
process control with over 60 analyser installations in
various applications,” Buttemer adds.
“Scanmin Africa will continue to run autonomously but will
be able to draw on the expertise of Multotec specialists,”
Buttemer says. “Multotec will also assist in the marketing
of the Scanmin products in conjunction with their existing
international sales infrastructure.”
Scanmin Africa is in the process of launching NITA, the most
advanced on-belt elemental analyser, in collaboration with
CSIRO Minerals of Australia. “Multotec is the manufacturer
of the local mechanical component of the NITA analyser and,
together with Scanmin’s input, this will reduce our reliance
on foreign companies for products and services. The Nita
analyser will have a 50% local component, at least,”
Buttemer says.
“Together with exciting developments such as the NITA, both
Multotec and Scanmin remain focused on and committed to the
mining and process industries,” Buttemer concludes. |
