Multotec provides dedicated research and testing facilities and services for businesses and organisations looking to separate and concentrate particles more efficiently.
With a range of specialised test work facilities, Multotec’s Technology Division provides extensive analysis of how your mineral or material will separate under given conditions. Thorough test work significantly reduces project risks and provides a solid foundation for the subsequent design and optimisation of process facilities.
In collaboration with industry bodies like SGS SA’s and Mintek’s laboratories, test work services are available internationally and are open to Multotec customers, the general mineral processing market and tertiary institutions.
The equipment available includes laboratory-scale wet high-intensity magnetic separators (WHIMS), cyclone rigs, filtration equipment, centrifuges, spiral rigs and a screening research rig. There is even capacity to test water purification methods on mine effluent.

To help re-industrialise South Africa and boost its manufacturing base in a bid to tackle rising unemployment in the country, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has introduced its requirements for local content in the mining industry. ‘Local content’ is defined as the value added during assembly or manufacturing of the mining goods that are produced in South Africa.
In 2018, Multotec took the bold step of having the content of its products verified by the SABS. The outcome was that 13 product families made the 60% threshold and have been certified by the SABS. Multotec is therefore the first manufacturer to be formally verified by the SABS.
Through our network of branches across South Africa, Multotec supports local job creation by providing employment opportunities for local communities. This is backed by a key focus on employee training and skills transfer, with Multotec investing approximately R10 million each year in staff training and skills development in South Africa. Multotec’s learnership programmes have also provided opportunities for more than 150 learners to date.
