Filter press equipment from Multotec facilitates isolation of solids and liquids in fully automated, energy efficient press-separation cycles that improve your plant’s uptime. This contributes significantly to increasing your rate of content separation.
This high separation rate is achieved via:
Multotec manufactures the parts for these presses for immediate availability. This helps clients reduce downtime in their solid/liquid separation application processes.
Multotec’s range is sourced from the world’s leading authorities in mineral processing and solid/liquid separation:
Critical parts are held in stock for clients that enter client agreements with Multotec.

The following types of filter press equipment are supplied, installed and serviced by Multotec’s specialists.
Ensure your filter press system achieves higher levels of performance. Our range of accessories includes durable, high-performance filter cloths as well as a range of recessed, membrane, vacuum membrane and plate frame filter plates.
These filter press types can be used for both manual and semi-automatic solid / liquid separation, and in automated applications with continuous (24/7) operation.
In addition to being used for mineral processing applications, these filter presses are also used in water treatment and wastewater treatment, refineries, chemical and pharmaceutical applications and the food and beverage industry.
Fast separation times
Separation cycle times are only 15 to 20 minutes. This means you can lower processing times by up to 10 minutes per cycle when compared to conventional hydraulic presses.
Lower energy and maintenance requirements
Use only 8% energy for clamping force! The sludge press filters in our range use only 8% power for its clamping force when compared to conventional hydraulic filter presses. This reduces energy requirements, and by applying less stress on filter press components, increases product longevity with less maintenance required.
Automated internal cleaning
Downtime is reduced when using our rapid filter press. It contains internal travelling spray bars that automatically wash the entire filter cloth between each cycle in 40 seconds. Automatic cleaning eliminates excessive material residue build-up and eliminates manual cleaning and unnecessary downtime.
If you are a student, or just interested in what a filter press is, and how it works, read about it here:
A filter press is equipment that separates liquids and solids using pressure filtration. To do this, slurry is pumped into the filter press and is dewatered under pressure. Each filter press is designed based on the volume and type of slurry that needs to be dewatered.
There are four main components of a filter press – the frame, filter plates, manifold and filter cloth. The manifold consists of piping and valves.
Slurry is pumped into the machine in such a way that solids are distributed evenly during the fill cycle. These solids build up on a filter cloth and form a filter cake. The liquid that has passed through the filter exits the filter plates through the corner ports into the manifold. This provides clean filtered water.
As a pressure filtration method is used, the filter press feed pump builds pressure and solids build inside the chambers until they are completely full of solids to form the cake. Once the chambers are full, the cycle is complete and ready for filter cake release.
