Reaping the Rewards in Russia: Multotec at the XII CIS Congress of Mineral Processing Engineers
By: Tatiana Saveleyva - General Manager: International Business Eurasia
Since its inception in 1997, the CIS Congress of Mineral Processing Engineers takes place every two years at the World Trade Centre in Moscow, Russia. This year, the Congress took place from the 25th to the 27th of February. This Congress offers the opportunity for mining engineers, specialists and metallurgists from around the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) to get together to exchange their operating experiences, thoughts and ideas on new equipment, automation systems, reagents and expertise.
Multotec, as an active player in the equipment supplier market, was a visitor to the Congress in 2013. In 2015, 2017 and again this year, Multotec has had its own stand. This is an excellent opportunity to meet existing clients and gain new contacts. As the Russian-speaking territory is so vast, this Congress provides the ideal platform to meet under one roof.
The main topics of the XII CIS Congress included: new equipment, control and automation systems, reagents and auxiliary materials for mining and metallurgical plants; operating experience of mining and metallurgical plants of domestic and foreign equipment, control and automation systems, reagents; technological problems of mining and metallurgical plants and ways to solve them; innovative technologies of all-round minerals processing; and research in the field of preparatory and separation processes of ore dressing.
On the first day of the Congress, Multotec and Sever Minerals (exclusive dealer of Metso in Russia) co-presented on our achievements in the iron ore industry. We shared how we could increase iron ore content in a concentrate by up to 2.5 % by only replacing cyclones. While there were less exhibitors at this year’s Congress, there were definitely more client participants, which was wonderful for all the exhibitors.
Despite the tense relationship between Russia and Ukraine, Ukrainian specialists attended and participated in this year’s Congress. Multotec was supported by DIN (Multotec’s Ukrainian dealer) who was a tremendous back-up on the stand.
This year’s Congress was a huge challenge for our marketing team. Artwork needed to be done in South Africa and delivered to Moscow at very short notice. Another hurdle was created when, just a couple of weeks prior to the Congress, an important political meeting was scheduled by the Russian President at the Moscow World Trade Centre, bringing the Congress forward by a day. Nevertheless, our marketing department delivered an excellent, professional stand which, with our distinctive green, stood out really well in the exhibition hall.
With over 45 years’ experience in the mineral processing industry, Multotec’s extensive application knowledge and technical expertise has enabled us to create customised, application-specific solutions for our clients – wherever they are in the world. It was a fantastic opportunity to participate and present at the XII CIS Congress of Mineral Processing Engineers in Moscow and we look forward to reaping many more rewards.
