Niel Lourens
Niel started his career in mining in 1981, when he worked in the platinum and chromite industries. He was also involved in mineral processing, R&D, quality control and quality assurance, at a managerial level.
In 1999, he was appointed to a role in the cyclone division at MPE; he was soon promoted to Product Manager. He held this role for 3 years, before relocating to Canada to start up Multotec’s branch, serving as Regional Manager and General Manager. In 2017, he moved to another company and gained experience in ceramic supply and installations for various industries, including mineral processing. He returned to Multotec Canada in 2021 as Technical Manager, responsible for proposals, technical support and project execution, also assisting the South American offices as required.
Niel was born in Malmesbury, in the Western Cape province of South Africa. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical Engineering – Extractive Metallurgy) from the University of Stellenbosch, as well as an International Marketing Diploma from UNISA.
