Spiral concentrators from Multotec efficiently segregate mineral slurries by density and particle size in a range of mineral processing applications. By using gravity, and centrifugal force, to create this separation, spiral concentrators have very low energy requirements and no moving parts.

As the mineral stream is fed from the top of the spiral concentrator and begins to spiral down the apparatus, centrifugal force sorts the mineral grains according to size, density and hydrodynamic properties. Lower-density, fine particles are carried towards the perimeter, while greater-density particles are retained in the centre.
Multotec’s heavy minerals and coal spiral concentrators achieve the highest processing efficiency through controlling and maintaining a constant flow rate to the spiral. Different spiral trough sizes and trough angles are selected, based on the nature of the application.
Multotec spiral concentrators segregate iron ore, chrome, mineral sands and other high-density mineral particles in sizes of less than 1.5 to 0.04 mm. Multotec’s HX3, HX5 and SC mineral spiral concentrator ranges are comprised of modular housing frames consisting of two spiral assemblies. These spiral concentrators can be fully dismantled for retrofitting.

HX and SC Mineral Spiral Concentrators – Compact modular design for a reduced plant footprint, these spiral concentrators are ideal for iron ore, chrome, mineral sands and high density ores. These spirals are simple to operate and require minimal maintenance.
Multotec’s coal spiral concentrators, available as single-stage and two-stage spiral concentrators with up to seven revolutions, are supplied with steel rubber-lined or PVC/polyurethane pipe launder systems. The spiral models can be configured in different ways and have been developed to suit the coal quality and can handle oxidised and weathered coal.
The compact, modular design of these spiral concentrators adds flexibility when building, modifying or upgrading spiral plants. Spirals are manufactured for high wear resistance, which facilitates an extended plant life and reduces overall operating and maintenance costs.
