MATO Lacing Systems
MATO Products (a Multotec company) supplies a complete range of conveyor belt lacing systems (including conveyor belt lacing tools) for conveyor belting. It is South Africa’s only manufacturer of mechanical conveyor belt fastening systems and the range of lacing systems includes lacing beds, lacing pins, fasteners/clips and manual lacers.
These lacing systems are the preferred choice for large-scale mining and materials handling operations in South Africa and most of Africa, especially in the coal mining sector.

MATO Lacing Machine
MATO lacing machines are available with manual, pneumatic and hydraulic lacers, and are designed for the installation of fasteners covering belt thickness from 5 to 20 mm thick unskived.
With operational forces shared between the two operating levers of the lacer, the MATO Conveyor Lacing Machine is robust yet compact and lightweight.
The two-stage lever method is an added advantage as it increases the efficiency of the installation and eliminates misfires normally associated with the single-stage method.

The MATO Lacing Bed is available in a wide range of sizes to suit the required belt width, from 900 mm to 2 200 mm.

MATO Conveyor Belt Fasteners produced in South Africa
U30 Series
Designed for conveyor belts with a tensile strength of up to 3 500 kN, the Mato U30 Series has a stainless steel plate and spring steel staple material. This design feature results in the strongest possible connection of the splice to ensure the longest possible service life.
S30 Series
With a tensile strength up to 3 500 kN, the MATO S30 series is recommended for medium strength belts in coal mining applications, including quarries, as well as cement and steel plants and other industrial applications.
E30 Series
The E30 Series is manufactured from special steel, the plate and staple design and configuration have been optimised through rigorous testing. The splice provides a strong connection and good service life. It is designed with a tensile strength up to 1 400 kN.
MATO Lacing Pins
The MATO connection pins are specially developed from stainless steel, chrome, nickel, steel cables and armour wrap. They come in ranges P1S, P2S and P3S; with sizes 500 mm to 2 200 mm.

The complete MATO conveyor belt fastening system combines a lacer, bed, wire rope winch or tirfo, clamp, cutter, skiver, lacing pins, wave master and clips. This combination helps to produce a cost-effective, durable alternative to hot and cold conveyor belt splicing. There are four MATO belt fastener sizes that cover the requirements of the South African mining industry. All of them have low profiles for improved cleaner interaction as well as less wear and reduced noise on pulleys and idlers.
