67 Minutes makes a difference keep Spartan clean!

On Mandela Day, 18 July 2019, the Green Team took to the streets of Spartan again to clean up our neighbourhood in honour of Nelson Mandela’s legacy and dream that we should all practice commitment to uplifting the dignity of others.

When we litter we express a willingness to live in our own filth - which of course is detrimental to ourselves but also shows no respect for the people that live and work around us, says Group Marketing Manager, Vivienne Murray.

What can you do every day to make a difference?

1. Choose NOT to litter
2. Educate your families and remind your friends not to litter
3. Throw your litter in a designated rubbish bin
4. If there is not a bin close by, keep the litter with you until you can find a rubbish bin.
5. Sort your litter for recycling. Remember Multotec has a recycling facility too.
6. Bring your own shopping bags and reusable containers when buying food - from the vendor on the corner or from the supermarket.

Disgusting Facts

• The average person holds litter and walks only 12 steps before throwing it on the ground. How lazy is that?
• 33 % of all litter globally is created from food containers.
• 28 % of all litter globally is created from Aluminium cans (beers and cold drinks) - there is no excuse for this - it can all be recycled if it collected and disposed of properly
• The most commonly littered item - cigarette butts. They are only small but trillions of butts a year are causing a massive problem.

The Multotec Challenge:

Identify just ONE thing that you can do in your home to prevent or reduce littering.
It starts and ends with you!
