Contributing to Education and Skills Related Programmes
Through our Socio-Economic Development (SED) initiatives, Multotec seeks to enhance and uplift the communities in which we operate. With our trusts and relationships, we are able to nurture and strengthen societies.
Here’s a recap on Our Contribution to Education and Skills Development in 2019:
Masemola Young Professionals
We continued to motivate and provide career guidance to the learners of Ga-Masemola in Limpopo during the career guidance and exhibition day organised by Masemola Young Professionals which was held in May 2019.
Education is our Future
We also extended our community upliftment initiatives to Middelburg and Rustenburg by partnering with Education is our Future. Two libraries have been set up by the company at Manyano Primary School, Middelburg and Motlhabe Primary School near Rustenburg.
“My highlight for 2019 was when Multotec donated a library for Motlhabe Primary School in Rustenburg. The aim is to promote reading for pleasure and also to highlight that literacy is the gateway to a better future. I believe this will make a huge difference to the community of Rustenburg.” - Lindiwe Tladi, Procurement Officer for Multotec Group.
“I still have a good clear vision of how my 2019 ended and will cherish that for years to come. Let me take you on a trip to Motlhabe where I met humble young vibrant school kids who wanted to change their lives for the better, but they were not going to achieve some of their dreams without a library. The library was the biggest thing that happened to them. They are going to expand their knowledge through reading various books relating to what they want to accomplish in their studies.” - Isaac T Matlala, Quality Inspector for Multotec Manufacturing.
Olifantshoek Primary School
Multotec Kathu presented stationery to the Olifantshoek Primary School in Kathu on Monday, 20 January 2020. The school was delighted to receive a donation of stationery from Multotec and the school Principal highlighted that the donation was highly appreciated and will be put into good use. The Northern Cape-based school received stationery to the value of R30 000 for Grade 1 learners. Stationery was one of the key items the school and its Grade 1 learners lacked.
Partners for Possibility
A fantastic job has been done by Multotec business leaders who partnered with various schools in Gauteng with the aim of bringing change to the education system. This was done in partnership with Symphonia South Africa through their programme known as Partners for Possibility.
2020 promises to be an exciting year and we are looking forward to getting to know our communities more and uplift those surrounding our operations.
