Adjusting to the new environment has its own challenges and it has its own opportunities.
I would firstly like to express my gratitude to Multotec for giving me an opportunity to be part of their team.
Looking back from where I began, 10 months ago, and how I developed the love of warehousing has surely been a stepping stone that groomed me to be the individual that I am today. I have grown to love the adrenaline in the warehousing field especially during peak season. The experience has shaped me to be independent and responsible in the work I do.
The first day I arrived at Multotec I was introduced to Maria Pinky Ndlovu (store person) who is the one who directed my path and Asad Sheik (sales admin manager) who is my mentor. She has taught me a lot in a short period of time, ensuring that I accomplish what is expected of me.
I planned to make my 12 months stay at Multotec as educational as possible while absorbing every bit of information and gaining experience.
The beauty of learning depends on me. I have built a strong presence and I am dedicated to the course.
At the SSM store, I am responsible for keeping track of stock that is coming in and going out; complete all necessary stock takes and ensuring all inventory and stock management is maintained accurately, in a timely manner as per Multotec’s SOP.
I can surely say that I see a future in pursuing a career in logistics. Challenges will always arise, but I will use them to my advantage. Working in warehousing and stores has taught me to invest in myself and replace laziness with determination and everything shall fall into place.
The most powerful words ever said by my mentor is: “You don’t grow when you are comfortable, so you better get uncomfortable”.
“Positive thinking is powerful thinking. If you want happiness, fulfilment, success and inner peace, start thinking you have the power to achieve those things. Focus on the bright side of life and expect positive results.” (Germany Kent)
