Multotec achieves Level 1 AEO accreditation from SARS

Multotec achieves Level 1 AEO accreditation from SARS.
A mark of trust, compliance and operational excellence

We’re proud to announce that Multotec (Pty) Ltd has been awarded Level 1 Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) status by the South African Revenue Service (SARS). This accreditation recognises our strong track record in customs compliance, financial health, and operational security - and positions us as a trusted partner in international trade.

What is AEO status?

An AEO accreditation is a global standard for companies involved in the import and export of goods. It means that a business is recognised as compliant, secure, and reliable by customs authorities. Level 1 is the highest rating under the SARS programme, and Multotec’s achievement reflects our commitment to excellence in everything from record-keeping and safety to legal compliance and supply chain security.

What did it take?

To achieve Level 1 AEO status, Multotec had to meet strict requirements across several areas:

  • Legal compliance – Timely and accurate submission of tax and customs documentation, with no serious violations.
  • Financial stability – Demonstrating our ability to meet obligations through sound financial standing.
  • Safety and security – Strong systems to prevent theft, smuggling, or unauthorised access.
  • Reliable systems – Robust processes for customs declarations and record-keeping.
  • Skilled staff – Key employees underwent assessments to demonstrate their knowledge of customs regulations.
  • Application and audit – A formal application to SARS followed by a full customs audit. A special word of thanks goes to Etienne Smit, Ronel Grobbelaar and Janice McNeil, who represented Multotec during the SARS competency assessments.

What are the benefits?

Being a Level 1 AEO comes with several advantages for our business:

  • Faster customs clearance – Less frequent checks and quicker processing times.
  • Streamlined trade processes – Fewer delays at borders and smoother import/export operations.
  • Enhanced reputation – Recognition as a trusted and compliant trade partner.
  • Stronger relationships – With customs authorities and global clients.
  • Competitive advantage – Our status gives us an edge in the global market.

Looking ahead

As we continue expanding into global markets, this recognition gives us the tools to operate more efficiently and securely.

We’re currently in the process of updating our official company documentation to include the AEO accreditation logo.

This milestone is another step in strengthening Multotec’s role as a global leader in mineral processing solutions.
