Multotec at Copper to the World 2024

Multotec Australia representatives recently attended the Copper to the World 2024 Conference & Exhibition, which offered abundant networking opportunities. From opening drinks and lively end-of-day events with music and live cooking stations to exploring the exhibition hall, our team expanded their network, exchanged ideas, and contributed to advancing the green copper revolution.

The Hon. Peter Malinauskas MP, Premier of South Australia, opened the Copper to the World Conference with a keynote presentation emphasising copper's crucial role in South Australia's clean industrial future.

He highlighted how the Northern Water Project has the potential to unlock the state's vast copper resources. With the global energy transition and rapid urbanisation driving unprecedented demand for copper, this is a pivotal moment for the industry and Australia.

We were excited to meet five up-and-coming South Australian copper exploration companies: Coda Minerals, Hamelin Gully, Hillgrove Resources, Thor Energy, and Leigh Creek Copper Mine.

Our team was able to connect with important customers from Australia and abroad. This includes representatives from BHP, Aeris Resources Limited, Rio Tinto, Newmont Australia, Rex Minerals, MMG Limited, Ok Tedi Mining, 29Metals (Capricorn Copper), and international visitors from Antamina Mining Company, CODELCO – Corporación Nacional del Cobre de Chile.

There were insightful discussions that emphasised the crucial role of copper mining and processing in South Australia for the state and the global energy transition. Increasing supply faces challenges such as more profound and remote deposits and ensuring the economic extraction of copper resources.

The global transformation economy oversees the responsible mining and production of the future's minerals, metals and fuels to safely and sustainably generate the energy and low-carbon products of the future.

To wrap up the final day of the Copper to the World conference, we've been inspired by discussions on technological advancements and holistic approaches in mining operations. Key themes included strategic investments, effective communication, and sustainable practices. Highlights featured automation, AI, data analytics, the future of copper mining, and integrating proven technologies.

Additionally, discussions covered copper mining across continents, focusing on Africa, unlocking potential with chemical crushing through explosives, and innovative strategies for delivering tomorrow's copper and disrupting the norm to unlock critical copper.
