Multotec Burkina Faso first technical seminar an outstanding success
Multotec hosted and presented its first West African technical seminar in Ghana late in May 2015. The seminar, held specifically to interact with West African mining operations’ technical personnel, was well attended by delegates from mines in Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Mali and Niger.
With the express aim of exposing delegates to Multotec’s pool of knowledge, the seminar achieved this objective and received positive feedback.
The presentations, conducted in English and simultaneously translated to French to suit the majority of delegates, comprised:
- Sampling Theory, Methods, Operations and Products: this dealt with the theory of sampling for process control and process evaluation; methods employed in sampling, operation of samples and types of available samplers.
- ScreeningPrinciples: Different vibrator screens’ operation principles was the focus of this topic, and Multotec’s range of screening media, and factors for consideration during screen selection and design took centre stage.
- Classification: The theory of classification, design and operational principles of cyclones was the focus here. The types of cyclones available for classification, dewatering and desliming in the gold industry were discussed – as was the importance of viewing a cyclone in a complete circuit with a mill and not in isolation.
- Milling: General principles of comminution, comminution laws and available equipment formed the crux of this subject. Design considerations for mill liners and methods for monitoring liner life, such as Hawkeye™, were also discussed.
- Wear Linings: Cost-effective design of wear and flow solutions for bulk material handling was the basis of this presentation. Factors to consider when selecting material, and when designing the products, were detailed and case studies, which used the prescribed solutions, helped ratify the importance of wear linings.
“The technical presentations were well-presented and interactions with the participants were captivating,” says Godwin Dzwario , Manager, Multotec. “Practical examples of applications and peculiar challenges from various operations were discussed in detail, and most delegates were impressed with the presentation content and depth of practical knowledge available within Multotec.”
