At the end of 2015 Multotec to embarked on large scale skilling up our workforce as well as the general community through various Skills Development interventions.
Multotec selected 4 Learnerships. Three of the learnerships, Plastics Manufacturing (NQF 2), Polymer Compound Manufacturing (NQF 2) and Production Technology (NQF 2) were offered to our own employees and one, IT: End User Computing (NQF 3), to external unemployed applicants.
41 internal and 10 external learners were selected to embark on the learning journey.
We also offered Apprenticeships to 8 previously unemployed individuals in various trades.
The experiences and results of the last year has gone way beyond book learning and on-the-job training. Attitudes have changed, relationships have been built and horizons broadened. Unemployed learners have also been given an opportunity to receive further education which should stand them in good stead for future employment. Multotec has managed to place 2 of these learners permanently already.
The most important outcome of the Learnerships and ongoing Apprenticeships is the Learners’ as well as their Management’s confidence in their abilities.
In 2017 we are continuing with these interventions. Watch this space for updates!
