Multotec Services Mozambique emerges the winner

To secure and consolidate its position as the leading process equipment supplier and support provider in Mozambique, Multotec Services Mozambique (MSM) has finally secured a 24-month-long field service contract with the Vale Moatize mine for wear lining services, effective May 2021.

The path to this celebrated milestone has not been easy. Yet, even after three failed attempts to secure the contract, when the client opted for the competitor, the MSM team remained unwavering and resolute. Vale Mozambique has always accounted for almost 80% of MSM's total annual business in Mozambique and this contract (besides bolstering revenue) consolidates Multotec’s presence in the region. This provides us with an opportunity to offer sales support for all the other equipment we supply and improve relations with the client in a bid to identify other opportunities for both supply and maintenance.

The wide scope of work for this contract demands determination and hard work from the Mozambique branch. The project includes the supply and installation of wear-resistant material; preventive and corrective maintenance work on all wear-resistant equipment; as well as cyclone refurbishment on all the 68 operational cyclones with an installed base of 53 % for Multotec cyclones.

This contract could not have come at a better time than now, as MSM will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year. Comprising a technical team of 11 specialists, the MSM site crew is committed to bringing the commercial vision of the Tete-based branch to fruition. Emmanuel Ngwenya leads the field service team at Vale. A process engineer by profession, having previously worked for Vale, Ngwenya lends his team an added advantage. He said: “I am happy to lead the site team in a busy but exciting challenge in field services. Great strides have been made by the team since the inception of the contract and we remain committed to keeping both hands on deck in driving this project and the MSM business vision at large. A lot of work is ongoing in consolidating the wear lining services and expanding the client support to various other potential process equipment supply and refurbishment work”.
