Learners at Boiketlong Christian Primary School in Sebokeng received a second donation of 50 pairs of school shoes. The shoes, donated by Baden Aniline and Soda Factory (BASF), are part of their ongoing support for Multotec’s Socio-Economic Development (SED) initiatives. A partnership that BASF has been committed to for the past 16 years.
The shoes were distributed to those most in need, including some learners from child-headed households.
Boiketlong Christian Primary School, home to approximately 700 learners from Grade R to Grade 7, operates in a context of constrained resources that impact daily teaching and learning. According to school officials, the school receives only about half of the usual government subsidy due to its registration as a private institution.
During our visit, the Multotec team toured the school facilities and witnessed firsthand the challenges the school faces. Despite these hardships, the team were deeply moved by the resilient spirit of the children, who maintained their cheerfulness even though their daily meal consists of just two pieces of bread.
This donation is expected to make a meaningful difference in the lives of these learners, many of whom come from severely disadvantaged backgrounds where necessities like proper school shoes are often unaffordable.
By continuing this initiative, BASF and Multotec reaffirm their long-standing partnership and shared commitment to community support and sustainability.
Together, we are taking small but impactful steps toward lasting social change.
