This year, Multotec Australia commenced a local community engagement programme with Marsden State High School. The school prides itself on providing students with the best academic, vocational, cultural, and sporting opportunities. Serving the Logan community, it offers quality educational opportunities for students in years 7 through 12. Marsden State High School is the largest secondary school in Queensland, at its heart is the motto, "Dare to inspire every learner to make a difference for our community".
This fantastic programme encourages year 8–10 pupils to create a collection of artworks that showcase vibrant individual experiences and cultural identities. Each piece reflects the pupils' unique memories and heritage through cultural symbols.
Represented cultures include the Cook Islands, Australian, Japanese, Hmong, Gujarati/Hindi, and Cambodian. This project weaves heritage with the individual experiences of Marsden students, shaping a broader Australian identity.
A common motif is the Logan River, symbolising community connections and flowing through each artwork to represent the interconnectedness of the students' lives. The symbols capture personal journeys, showcasing family traditions, cultural practices, and everyday life within the Marsden community.
These artworks celebrate the past, present, and future, inviting the audience to explore and understand the strong connections that unite our diverse community. You may recall when we chose to use the remarkable Multotec shweshwe design from the shirts and transform it into a full wrap for our service vehicle in the Hunter Valley.
We previously encouraged you to stay tuned for future developments in our collaboration with Marsden State High School to create a new vehicle wrap. We are thrilled to announce that the project is now complete, and the result of the vehicle is nothing short of remarkable.
A massive thank you to Jens Herzog—without his help, this wouldn't have been possible. A huge thank you to Marcus Jones, the Executive Principal of Marsden State High School, and the students. Finally, thank you to Ben Jones from Springwood Signarama for executing the vinyl wrap.
The vehicle was unveiled on the 21st of November at Marsden State High School, with Logan City Mayor Jon Raven present.
Our collaboration with Marsden State High School was a success.
