New and Exciting Opportunities for Multotec Services

At Multotec Services we have experienced a taste of new and exciting opportunities. Despite the very busy environment that has come about on the back of the buoyant commodity market, we have seen growth in the expansion of our service offerings to our customers as well as some new faces in our Secunda branch.
With the pressure on production, during the increased demand and prices, at our customer sites, the resources at the mines to execute urgent repairs, maintenance and updates have diminished and customers are starting to turn to service providers such as Multotec Services to provide assistance on some of these projects.
The first stage involved the scanning of current dimensions, determining the plant interfaces and production of manufacturing drawings on the back of a modification to improve material flow. The need for fresh drawings stems from the fact that original drawings are not always available any longer or that modifications that took place through the years were not captured or a combination of both.
With the aid of a specialist engineering company, Shane Brider managed to deliver the detailed plant scans, fabrication drawings and improved deck design to the customer for their approval in a very short period of time. The next phase will entail the manufacture and lining of the structure as well as the installation on site during the next planned shutdown. In Secunda, our branch was involved in the major Sasol 3 shutdown which ran through the month of September.
The team had to recruit a supplementary crew of installers, push them all through the comprehensive induction and training programme at Sasol and ensure that they were all equipped with the required personal protective equipment (PPE) in time for the start of the shutdown.
Our teams were split between night shift and day shift crews in order to deliver a 24-hour service on site. The team effort by the branch manager Daniel Smith, the supervisors December Mabuza and Alrico Beukes and that of the safety officers, Babalwa Janda and August Madonsela resulted in Multotec Services completing the work that was scheduled ahead of time and without any accidents or incidents. As a result, the Multotec team was acknowledged on various occasions for their excellent performance by the management of Sasol. An achievement to be proud of indeed!
