Separating the good from the bad: Dense Medium Separation
Brent Combrink, Process Engineer, Multotec Manufacturing, reports back on Multotec's customer training workshops, held during August this year.
Our final customer training workshop for the year, (titled Separating the Good from the Bad) was held virtually on 18 & 19 August 2021. The topics focused on the correct methods for dense medium separation.
Frankly, I think we have set the international bar for events of this nature, on this platform. One of the improvements implemented was running two sessions to accommodate our international viewers across the different time zones. The workshop content was repeated, and presenters were available during both sessions to answer questions in a live format.
Our registration numbers increased from our previous workshop, closing at 617 on the day. The first session garnered 180 attendees with 110 attending the second. We had planned, and managed, to attract a greater international split for the second session. All presentations were recorded and are available for on-demand viewing.
The overall participation in this workshop was 365 attendees (live or viewing of presentation recordings) from over 100 key companies and seven universities across 23 countries.
Our presenters, with Wilna Hofmann in the front seat this time, did a sterling job. Ask Wilna what it feels like to be in the hot seat when there are technical issues; it’s a rather interesting experience, to put it mildly! Wilna took it in her stride and handled the challenges in true Multotec style.
This workshop yielded some of the best questions yet from our viewers, which led to some interesting conversation for the Q&A discussion. We received some very good feedback; and will now evaluate this year’s sessions and use the lessons learnt for 2022.
Next year, our customer training will be commodity driven as we plan to do 3 sessions that will include copper, iron ore and battery minerals.
