Showcasing Innovation at Multotec: Sieve bends
This safety innovation was developed by Zelda Zonneveld Junior Draughtsperson, Multotec Manufacturing, TCS.
Problem statement:
A mine was using a pipe with a flat end to remove the panels on their sieve bends. This was not a very safe procedure and the mine wanted a safety innovation to address this.
Description of innovation:
We designed a gwala for the mine according to 
their requirements and it was approved by their safety instructors. They also ordered multiple lengths of the gwala. The gwala is now implemented on the mine.
Cost of innovation:
Cost to implement R5 971.42 each
Benefit to our customers:
The customer now has an approved product that they can work with. Employees no longer follow unsafe working procedures by cutting pipes and flattening them.
