Spotlight on community Multotec at Marsden State High School career day

Multotec Australia recently had the exciting opportunity to attend the year 9 & 10 careers day at Marsden State High School, joining over 1 500 eager students exploring their future pathways.

The day was thoughtfully organised, combining a career panel session and a “show” section where students could interact directly with businesses

Four main categories were represented on the panels: Health, Construction, Education, and Sport, and Multotec proudly took its place on the construction panel alongside Stoddart, Australian Trade College, and a year 12 student currently completing a school-based certificate in engineering fabrication.

At our display table, we showcased some of the fascinating products we design and manufacture. We quickly learned that we had way too few pens to give away, who knew year 9 and 10 students would be so enthusiastic about free pens?

More importantly, they were genuinely curious about the “strange looking” items on our table and the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths) pathways that lead to making them, especially focusing on subjects like Maths and Physics.

We were thrilled to see at least five students express strong interest in work experience opportunities across areas like design, technical drawing, robotics, and fabrication. One student was practically bursting with excitement about the idea of designing and working with plastics and polyurethane (PU), promising they’d have their parents contact us as soon as possible to set up work experience.

On the construction career panel, Multotec delivered a simple but powerful message, one we’ve shared before on other career boards:

  • If a job needs to be done, it can be done safely.
  • No certification will outshine attitude.
  • Never be afraid to ask how or why something works.

Although the group was a little shy when it came to asking public questions, many students came afterwards to ask thoughtful and relevant questions one-on-one. Overall, the day was a great success. Our signature Multotec Peacock made quite an impression (despite some questionable driving through the walkways — no kids were harmed, we promise!). We also strengthened our local business ties and proudly reinforced the Marsden motto: Logan supporting Logan.

Thank you to Marsden State High School for having us, we’re excited to inspire the next generation of STEM and manufacturing talent!
