Joshua Badenhorst joined Multotec in June 2012 as a draughtsperson in the Samplers, Solid-Liquid Separation and Magnetics (SSM) drawing office. He brought with him vast experience gathered from previous roles, across multiple industries, such as ABB electrical/manufacturing, Boughan mining equipment and Royal Bafokeng Mine.
He is patient and a true team player, always willing to assist others. In the drawing office, he is known by his famous catchphrase: “When something is not correct then fix it because two wrongs don’t make a right”. He is not afraid to ask questions, believing that if all questions are addressed correctly at the beginning of any task, everyone’s job is simplified and a sound design is produced faster.
Throughout his journey with Multotec, Joshua has worked on various large projects but the one that goes down in history is the GAC hammer sampler 1800-HS-500 project. This was the biggest hammer sampler in the world. Driven by a Baumuller servo motor which produces 8600 Nm of torque with 90 kW power, it is directly coupled to a shaft with Entramarc TG-1130-H coupling.
For his contribution to the production of sound machine designs as well as the implementation and incorporation of regulated safety measures, we nominated him as this month’s SSM award winner. Thank you, Joshua, for your contribution and for always thinking outside of the box.
