Most of us see a company name on paperwork in our busy existence as the hours of the day rush by, not ever really knowing the story behind the name. Therefore, please allow me to introduce you all to TURBO Makina Ltd. based in Istanbul, Turkey.
In 2017 during a business trip to Turkey, I was introduced to a very dynamic father and son team. Their company was called Dizel Turbo back then, specialising in Detroit Diesel engines and Alison Transmissions for mining vehicles. As the mining world evolved to more autonomous equipment Mr. Can Ozdemir and Emre Ozdemir had to adapt and redirect the focus of the company. The day I walked into their office to introduce Multotec to them, it felt like that moment was planned long before I arrived at their doorstep.
Market knowledge, relationships and collaboration with key players in the mining industry are the principal ingredients of their success. Since then, the company’s name has been changed to TURBO Makina Ltd., more in-line with the mineral processing, comminution, and bulk material handling equipment they offer to the mining industry of Turkey.
The name “Multotec” has been associated with mining for 50 years this year. Wherever we go around the world, when the name “Multotec” is mentioned in a conversation it brings me an enormous sense of pride to be a part of the Multotec family. TURBO Makina Ltd. has been instrumental in furthering our reach and our success in Turkey, which I am very grateful for. With 35 years in the mining industry, warehousing space, a fully equipped workshop, qualified engineers, and technicians with fully equipped vehicles for site work, TURBO Makina Ltd. brings a comprehensive sales and after sales services delivery package to the table.
In December 2022, TURBO Makina Ltd. hosted a collaborative exhibition stand at the Mining Turkey 2022 Expo, where Multotec had a prominent presence. Dawie van Eeden (capital equipment support manager) and Frikkie Enslin (applications manager - East), represented Multotec Manufacturing & Multotec Process Equipment at my side as I represented Multotec International Eurasia. I am confident to say that the overall size and attendance of this event were on par with Electra Mining NASREC which has been part of our DNA for decades.
It’s been six years since the introduction between our companies, not an easy ride by any measure, but worth the effort and sacrifice. The Turkish territory has seen exponential growth in this period because of the tremendous efforts, collaboration, and support from both sides. I am excited about what the future holds and grateful to be here.
