In June 2020, Multotec's Beichen Plant in China commenced its operations, marking an exciting milestone. Unfortunately, this coincided with the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, hindering the visitation plans of our colleagues from the South African headquarters. Fast forward to April 2023, and a delightful change emerged. Our CEO, Thomas Holtz, joined by key figures such as Ken Tuckey, Director of Multotec Screening Systems (MSS), Jaco du Toit, MD of Multotec International, and Rhodes Nelson, President of Multotec Screening, embarked on an eagerly awaited trip to the Beichen Plant.
With enthusiasm, the Beichen Plant played host to the visitors, offering a captivating tour through its diverse divisions. From the intricate workings of the casting workshop to the innovative injection moulding section, every corner was explored. The new product workshop and office spaces also left a lasting impression. Of particular interest was the selection of unique products, a rare sight in the South African landscape, that caught the attention of Thomas Holtz.

The executive team had a productive and insightful visit to the MSS factory. They were able to see the workstations and products of the MSS staff, who demonstrated their skills and quality standards. The IJM team impressed the visitors with their superb products. After the tour, the headquarters’ leaders and Eric Song, the General Manager of MSS, had a strategic meeting to discuss the future and goals of the company.
Eric gave an inspiring presentation on the achievements and progress of MSS in various areas, such as managing their staff, innovating their technology, and expanding their market. Despite facing tough market conditions earlier this year, Eric and his team did not give up. They developed new products, explored new markets, and aimed to become industry leaders. The Exco visitors participated actively in the meeting, sharing their insights and ideas on the current and future plans for MSS. They offered valuable advice and feedback on important issues such as business growth, staff development, and organisational management.

Following the meeting, Eric was incredibly impressed by the CEO's visit, describing it as a truly profound and impactful experience. He emphasised that the visit not only offered clear direction but also instilled a strong sense of confidence within our team. Looking ahead, MSS is wholeheartedly embracing fresh development concepts, homing in on innovation and quality to pave the way for sustainable growth. Moreover, we're expanding our business scope with a resolute determination to leverage our strengths and propel MSS towards greater size and strength.
During their brief stay, the Exco delegation used the opportunity to explore some of our partner companies, delving into both technical and business discussions. This not only established a strong foundation for future collaboration but also fostered a deeper sense of mutual trust.
Although their visit was brief, the leaders from our headquarters imparted a treasure trove of advice and suggestions for MSS's development. As we commemorate Multotec's 50th anniversary this year, I hold a firm belief that under Eric's guidance, every MSS employee will uphold the cherished corporate culture of Multotec. Together, we will confront and triumph over the challenges of the Chinese market with unity and determination.
An exciting future awaits Multotec, and my optimism knows no bounds!
