Multotec’s scrolled evolute inlet head designs have revolutionised cyclone design!
Through extensive testing and simulations, Multotec has proven that the scrolled evolute inlet design has a higher capacity when compared to other inlet configurations.
This design, which has been field tested in real conditions, substantially reduces vortex finder wear, thereby reducing operating costs while maximising cyclone efficiency.
The superiority of this cyclone design has been confirmed by Computational Fluid Dynamic Analysis.
CFD – or Computational Fluid Dynamics – uses numerical methods to detect and explain challenges, like fluid flow for example, experienced with your cyclone. Multotec provides CFD as part of its offering, as it helps you understand cyclone behaviour and thereby optimise its performance.
Multotec’s unique classification cyclone design incorporates engineering that makes it possible to alter several components – either during the design phase or subsequent to installation. This ensures that the cyclone meets every customer’s exact performance requirement – a major market differentiator.
The vortex finder controls the cyclone’s cut point allowing for more or less overflow material and finer or courser particles. This selection option makes it easier to control the cyclone’s performance and fine tune the product requirements.
Additionally, Multotec can accommodate varying spigot diameters and achieve optimum overflow densities without changing the entire cyclone design. The Multotec spigot has a parallel throat design, enabling it to maintain the correct spigot opening over a longer time period.
Spigots on Multotec’s cyclones feature Multotec’s a new generation 4-start thread adapter for quick and easy spigot removal. It is compatible with both polyurethane and ceramic spigots, has a coarser self-cleaning thread and, unlike the traditional single-start thread, it allows for multiple turns.
To assist in the replacement of spigots, Multotec has enlarged the screw-on spigot type to fit on to some of the larger spigot ranges. This enables screw-on spigots to be fitted onto Multotec’s range of GV and HC cyclones.
Multotec develops and supplies oversize spigots for clients that use the full liner thickness to maximise HC cyclone life. The oversize spigot, and its accompanying spigot holder, now has more material on top of the spigot.
Multotec successfully implemented a process that allows them to completely rubberline HDPE overflow elbows.
The fully rubberlined elbows, available on request only, are lined with 6 mm thick natural rubber for all cyclone sizes up to 750 mm diameter. All cyclone sizes larger than 750 mm diameter will be lined with 10mm thick natural rubber.
To allow for more flexible cyclone solutions and to enable Multotec to meet the demand for finer ore processing, we have developed a VV250 degree polyurethane cone.
At Multotec, we provide more than processing equipment, but constantly strive to assist you in achieving overall business excellence. This is why when you partner with Multotec, you don’t just get a diversified product offering, but form a relationship based on product refinement, a true understanding of process flow sheets and field service and maintenance – ensuring that together we will create a solution that is suited specifically to your individual needs and that will optimise your process and lower your overall operating costs.
