The Scrolled Evolute head design
The Scrolled Evolute design is the heart of Multotec’s dense medium cyclone efficiency! Together with the specialised engineered tile wear surface, the Scrolled Evolute design ensures maximum separation efficiency and wear life from your hydrocyclone.
Through extensive testing and simulations, has Multotec proven that the Scrolled Evolute inlet design has a higher capacity when compared to standard inlet configurations. This design substantially reduces vortex finder wear, thereby reducing operating costs while maximising cyclone efficiency. The result is also a stable air core inside the cyclone and reduced energy consumption in heavy medium separation.
The Scrolled Evolute design helps operators achieve high separation efficiencies at lower operating pressures, reducing overall energy consumption in the process and improving capacity.
Each engineered tile is specifically designed for its position in the complete tile kit, ensuring a very tight fit, with the absolute minimum space at the end of the tile joints. The widths are selected to provide a smooth internal surface, resulting in a long-lasting wear surface.
Engineered tiles are pressed with chamfered sides and then, while in the green state, are cut precisely to the required shape. This ensures that gaps between the tiles are minimised.
Standard pressed tiles are hand cut, which results in gaps between the tiles. Because the epoxies used to bond the tiles wear more rapidly than alumina tiles, the tile surface becomes increasingly uneven during operation, resulting in accelerated wear.
As a global leader in cyclone separation efficiency, Multotec understands the common process factors that affect your cyclone performance. Our cyclone product specialist, Ernst Bekker, highlights all the performance parameters Multotec measures when selecting the ideal dense medium cyclone, or other dense media separation equipment, for your application.
Using its mineral processing technology in its dense media separation equipment, Multotec can provide a wide range of design options for specialised applications to the market. These include special materials of construction and wear linings and more.
Multotec will partner with you over the lifetime of your plant, constantly seeking to optimise process efficiency to make sure you achieve your mineral processing goals at the lowest cost per ton. Our team of leading metallurgists and engineers will help improve your profitability by continuously working towards leaner, more efficient beneficiation processes geared towards enhancing product speed to market and increasing product consistency and reliability while reducing waste.
